Why I'm standing

I believe Waiheke is at a livability crossroads – housing, cost-of-living, environmental pressures – and I want to use my passion for and experience with community advocacy for the best outcomes for the island. Waiheke's unique environment is at risk from ecosystem collapse and pollution of its waterways. Families and younger people are leaving the motu, homelessness is on the rise – we need to build our community resilience through strategy and community connection.

About me

I am passionately involved with many local community groups, and have previously served on community boards advocating for equitable outcomes, as well as boards for Waiheke-based community organisations. I have facilitated change in city bylaws using common sense, rational thinking. I have created programmes to upskill youth and events to strengthen the social fabric on the island. I work for disability and environmental not-for-profit organisations towards social and environmental justice.

My priorities
  1. Advocate for aged-care residential facility to be built on Waiheke allowing elderly to age in place.
  2. Create bus routes with smaller electric buses to serve population while minimally damaging roads.
  3. Introduce compost collection and large-scale community garden as part of motu food resilience plan.
