Why I'm standing

I am a long time community advocate in the St Martins/Heathcote area. I love the area, the proximity to the city, the hills and the sea. Climate change is bringing many challenges that we need to address throughout our communities. The earthquakes have shown us the importance of building resilience and the time it takes. I want to support this mahi wherever I can, whether through community energy, cleaner transport alternatives or environmental restoration initiatives.

About me

I have been involved with community organisations since moving here in 2004, including as chair of St Martins School Board for six years. Currently I am on the Envirohub board. I have solid governance experience in local organisations and understand that community decision making needs to consider the greater good rather than just the needs of the few. I am pragmatic and like to make well informed decisions considering all viewpoints.

My priorities
  1. Advocate for community based energy initiatives to reduce costs, carbon footprint and build resilience.
  2. Prioritise investment in safe pedestrian access and cycleways to schools, city centre and amenities.
  3. Reduce fire risk in the Port Hills and support native restoration projects in the hills and awa.
