The Waihoro Spreydon-Cashmere-Heathcote Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Christchurch City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of nine members: six members elected by voters, including Two members from your area, and three members from the Christchurch City council. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Push for more pedestrian crossings along wide and busy streets such as Centaurus Road and upgrade the zebra crossing on Wilsons Road New World.

    Support better coverage for bus services in the ward with more residents within 400m of a bus stop on a regular route.

  • Advocate for more and better buses serving the community and encourage the development of mass rapid transit across greater Christchurch.

    Invest in road and footpath maintenance to keep surfaces smooth and well repaired.

    Make sure every child has a safe walking and cycling route to their local school.

  • Invest in reducing congestion, maximising public transport and engineering works done once and done right to connect roads and people.

    Support right-sized and placed safe cycleways. There are over-engineered and misplaced bike paths across the city.

  • Ensure every child can safely walk, bike or scooter to their nearest school to remove barriers and create societal change.

    Finish major cycleways along with the secondary networks that connect to retail, schools and other locations, enhancing active transport.
