The Waihoro Spreydon-Cashmere-Heathcote Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Christchurch City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of nine members: six members elected by voters, including Two members from your area, and three members from the Christchurch City council. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Support local trapping efforts as part of a pest-free vision for Banks Peninsula and the Port Hills.

    Support the Ōpāwaho-Heathcote River Network to deliver great events such as the Mother of All Clean Ups and tackle pest plant species.

    Work with landowners, volunteers and mana whenua to deliver a plan for the Port Hills that recloaks the hills in native biodiversity.

  • Support community based energy initiatives across the ward to significantly reduce emissions, reduce energy bills and build resilience.

    Support initiatives to reduce and discourage sediment and runoff into the Opawaho and encourage use of Snap, Send, Solve to report issues.

    Support rewilding initiatives across the Port Hills and encourage removal of fire risk plantations.

  • Support measures that reduce sediment migration, run-off and pollutants entering the Opawaho / Heathcote river corridor.

    Continue to push for a future-proofed wastewater treatment plant, reducing emissions and stormwater overflows into rivers.

    Support the Opawaho River Networks education programmes striving to restore the ecological health of the river and its catchment.
