Waikato Regional Council

Hamilton General Constituency
The Waikato Regional Council makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of 14 councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). four councillors will be elected from the Hamilton constituency. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I am a postgraduate with several years of advanced training in environmental management. I have worked for over 25 years for regional councils promoting sustainable environmental practices. I bring a unique set of skills to the council with my experience. I have a passion for management of environmental issues such as water quality, biosecurity, biodiversity and climate change. I have significant experience working with communities and I am a Justice of the Peace for New Zealand.

About me

I have a broad range of skills and experience to lead our community in meeting the current economic, climate and infrastructure challenges. I secure, analyse and utilise information from various sources when making decisions, including advice from council staff, community views, and my own experience and opinions. My skills and experience will add value to the role and benefit the Waikato community in general and the Hamilton community in particular.

My priorities
  1. Develop healthy environment, such as water quality and availability, now and for the future.
  2. Prepare for resilience and respond to natural hazards and flood protection infrastructure upgrades.
  3. Maintain indigenous biodiversity and biosecurity, safeguarding from exotic pests and diseases.
