Why I'm standing

I am concerned the bureaucratic process of local democracy is too expensive and needs to be consolidated into one unitary body for our region. The replacement RMA Acts will hopefully deliver a more efficient pathway to consenting activities and also allow more permitted activities that are known to be less harmful to our environment.

About me

I am a retired chartered accountant and company director. I am experienced working with people in a professional environment. I have served on a number of not for profits in order to contribute back to the community. My objective in life is to ensure I leave the city in an improved state from when I arrived 38 years ago.

My priorities
  1. Ensure rates are controlled to less than the level of inflation.
  2. Eliminate all council activities that are not required by law.
  3. Make the ship go faster by reducing bureaucracy within the legal boundaries of local government.
Current role

Regional Councillor, chair of finance and services.
