Oxford-Ohoka Ward
The Waimakariri District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of ten councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). two councillors will be elected from the Oxford-Ohoka ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Cut emissions without burdening the ratepayer and support cost effective methodologies.

    Ensure infrastructure can withstand earthquakes, floods and other disasters.

    Maintain strong civil defence plans and community readiness.

  • Continue implementing sustainability measures for council transport, energy use, procurement, biodiversity and waste management and reduction.

    Discourage development in high-risk areas that cannot be sufficiently mitigated and develop adaptation plans with communities if need arises.

    Maintain strong civil defence capacity, support further community emergency hub development and encourage close, secure, resilient communities.
