Why I'm standing
I'm concerned about where our district is heading. Waitomo needs fresh leadership – open, informed conversations where all voices are heard. We must drill down and understand why rates are so high, then make changes where needed. Strengthening community pride and connection is vital, alongside growing the economy to bring in outside income. Cost-cutting alone won't deliver affordability. By growing the district, we can keep life affordable for locals today and for future generations.
About me
I bring strong governance, financial and community experience to the role. I am a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Director and have served as both director and chair. I am currently a Waitomo District Councillor and a long-serving community trustee. Through my family farm, small business and local organisations I am deeply connected to our district. I believe in respectful leadership that listens to all voices, builds collaboration and sets a positive culture focused on community wellbeing.
My priorities
- Strengthen the economy by growing tourism spending and small businesses to bring in outside income.
- Right-size council with shared services and fairer rates to ease the burden on locals.
- Build community pride and connection through waste projects, events and shared spaces.
