Mayor of Waitomo

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Waitomo District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I am standing for mayor because I believe our district thrives when decisions are shaped with the people who live here. I have seen the strength, creativity and resilience in our communities, and I want to make sure council works alongside them, not above them. I want to create a future where every voice matters and every part of the district has the chance to flourish.

About me

I have lived, worked and led across the coastal, rural and town communities of our district. My experience spans governance, business and community leadership, giving me the skills to connect people, navigate challenges and get things done. I am committed to listening, working alongside others and making decisions that reflect the voices of our whole district.

My priorities
  1. Work with communities to protect and enhance our taiao. Healthy taiao for future generations.
  2. Create opportunities to thrive because strong families build strong, resilient communities.
  3. Grow a fair and accessible local economy so everyone benefits from the success of our district.
