Wellington City Council
The Wellington City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 15 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). three councillors will be elected from the Motukairangi/Eastern ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. My job, if elected as mayor, is to help build a more resilient, liveable and affordable Wellington.
About me
I have a long record of service as a peacekeeper, a police officer, a city councillor, and a Justice of the Peace for 23 years.
My priorities
- Set out a budget that will pay off Wellington's debt within 20 years.
- Instruct the chief executive to carry out a complete review of council staffing.
- Employ AI to give ratepayers access to decision-making and spending allocations on a daily basis.
