Auckland Council

Albany Ward
The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). Two councillors will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

Why I'm standing

I am running for council because I am firmly of the view that in Albany we need a change. New councillors finding new ways to address the issues within our community. These must be people who understand collaboration and co-operation get things done. I want to focus on local in delivering Albany's aspirations. I want to find new ways to celebrate our diversity. I want you on the journey with me.

About me

I am a visionary, a person who knows how to create a big goal that unites. In my business career I have been involved in people industries. Today I give as a trustee on two Whangaparāoa community trusts and the Rodney Area Trust for Life Education's "Healthy Harold" programme. I currently work in customer facing roles.

My priorities
  1. Support the building of a community centre/hub on the Whangaparāoa peninsula.
  2. Lobby for a second harbour crossing. Albany depends on an effective functional crossing to the CBD.
  3. I want to do my best to grow the budgets for community amenities.
