Auckland Council

Albany Ward
The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). Two councillors will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

Why I'm standing

I'm standing because I think it's important that now, more than ever, we have strong and independent representatives on the Auckland Council, people in touch with the communities they represent and capable of bringing informed and determined representation to an organisation sometimes removed from the local communities it serves. Our area is a great place to live and my priority is to do all that is possible to keep it that way.

About me

I'm an experienced and determined councillor with a track record of standing up for the various communities across the Albany ward, holding those in power to account when required and delivering projects and services our residents expect. I have a background in educational, sports and community organisations which I hope makes me accessible and empathetic to people across all our ward, listening to what people have to say and then acting accordingly on their behalf.

My priorities
  1. Advancing major transport and infrastructure projects across roading, public transport and wastewater.
  2. Safeguarding public reserves, marinas, golf courses from sale. Controlling rates through efficiencies.
  3. Enhancing environmental protection, water quality and practical, timely climate change action.
