Auckland Council

Albany Ward
The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). Two councillors will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

Why I'm standing

Auckland Council is in crisis and an urgent change in direction and strategy is needed now. I feel that the needs of our community are not being met, and we have been left behind compared to the rest of Auckland. I intend the bring the spotlight back the Albany Ward area and will champion the needs of our community in the Town Hall.

About me

I have led the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board as Deputy Chair emphasising transparency, accountability and action. Prior, I spent six years advocating to council and central government for our residents as electorate agent for MP's Hon Murray McCully then Erica Stanford. I'm a volunteer trustee for Life Education North Shore, member of the Institute of Directors, executive member of a local business association and an active volunteer with many of our wonderful community organisations.

My priorities
  1. Infrastructure. Congestion is crippling our roading and sewage spews onto our beaches when it rains.
  2. Stricter accountability and oversight of Auckland Transport, Auckland Unlimited, Watercare and Panuku.
  3. Be a loud outspoken voice to ensure that areas in North Auckland are not forgotten and are heard.
