Auckland Council

North Shore Ward
The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). Two councillors will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

Why I'm standing

I'm Danielle Grant. I believe you are not getting the representation you deserve. I bring the governance and business experience to decision making. Financially, these are extremely tough times for Auckland Council. You deserve the best skills and commitment to managing the risks ahead, to stop wasteful spending and support growth. Having serviced the North Shore for the last nine years, I will provide greater financial accountability, improved Council leadership and stronger community representation.

About me

My husband and I love the North Shore and enjoy raising our family here. My background is in public relations and marketing. I am a Justice of the Peace and a member of the Institute of Directors. I strongly believe in supporting all those in my community. I have centre-right values, I love the environment and will protect it. I have a deep and personal commitment to building a strong and vibrant community for all.

My priorities
  1. Stop wasteful spending at council. Stronger financial accountability, better rates management.
  2. Tackle crime – more funding for safe and secure communities.
  3. Ease congestion: common sense plans to get the North Shore moving.
