Auckland Council

North Shore Ward
The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). Two councillors will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

Why I'm standing

I have lived on the North Shore for over 25 years and believe Auckland has much more to offer if it reprioritizes some of its objectives in light of Covid, supply chain disruptions and inflationary pressures. Having worked for council for over 12 years and developed some of its current policies and strategies, I would like the opportunity to further contribute to the area and the community that have supported the family over the years.

About me

My core beliefs and principles reflect my professional association with the Chartered Governance institute (Fellow) and Institute of Directors. If elected, I will advocate more transparency and better accountability for decisions made. Individual integrity and willingness to learn and listen to expert advice and adequate engagement and collaboration with the community are key attributes of a public servant are leadership qualities I will adhere to in my role at council if elected.

My priorities
  1. Establish policies to reduce individual carbon footprint through incentives and education.
  2. Stop the light rail project until the second harbour crossing construction project is finalised.
  3. Stop land zoning and supply in productive food production areas to become self-sustained.
