Bay of Plenty Regional Council

Rotorua Constituency
The Bay of Plenty Regional Council makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of 14 councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). Two councillors will be elected from the Rotorua constituency. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I live and work in Rotorua (some councillors live in other cities). My regional rates are huge, but I don't see value. I want more environmental funds for Rotorua communities. It's time for a fresh face with new ideas that invest in the youth and care for the elderly. And care for the environment. It has been almost 20 years since a woman councillor was elected. Let's change that and introduce diversity.

About me

I hold law and arts degrees. I've worked as a NZ diplomat, for the government, with regional councils and for multimillion dollar boards and trusts. I've trained at the NZ Institute of Directors. I'm an associate member of the Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of NZ. I'm comfortable on the marae, on a farm or in a boardroom. I'm a working mum. I'm and enrolled barrister and solicitor of the NZ High Court.

My priorities
  1. Get more value from Rotorua's regional rates, particularly for our stunning Rotorua lakes.
  2. Provide more services for Rotorua elderly and young people.
  3. Invest in Rotorua's sustainable future in forestry farming and tourism.
