Far North District Council

Bay of Islands-Whangaroa General Ward
The Far North District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 10 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Three councillors will be elected from the Bay of Islands-Whangaroa ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Far North District Council election.

Why I'm standing

I am standing as I am seeing the loss of personal autonomy over land, water rights and what we can or cannot do on our properties. The rising cost of rates without much benefits to the ratepayers. I have young children and want to ensure that they have freedom. I stand for family, community, choice, and freedom.

About me

My professional background is large-scale strategic infrastructure projects and programmes of work within the government and private sectors. I have chaired community housing boards and assisted with developing guidelines and policies.

My priorities
  1. Reject Three Waters as it is currently being proposed.
  2. Speak up against the expansion of Significant Natural Areas and Outstanding Natural Landscape.
  3. Be more transparent with the general public on what is happening at the council level.
