Mayor of Far North District

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Far North District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

As a farmer trained in zoology, horticulture, beef, lamb, deer, bees, fruit production and having lived in countries such as China/Burma/Laos/Fiji/Australia, I believe we can only do better via team work here in the "Far North". Living in the jungles of Asia is not for me, living in the "Far North" of New Zealand where we can improve the environment for the better is a place we call "home".

About me

The bucket list of contacting world-famous icons from Her Royal Highness royalty to Jamie Oliver to Arnold Schwarzenegger and even Walt Disney and the American Government to invest in New Zealand in vision has been an eye opener from their replies to me, more so than dealing with our own government on investment for our region, going cap in hand to display us on any stage is achievable.

My priorities
  1. Introduce new animal welfare staff and codes to better reflect a more modern society.
  2. Investment in showcasing our local artisans.
  3. Reducing rates for new ventures wanting to open up shop in our towns. Creating those jobs we need.
