Mayor of Far North District

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Far North District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I'm proudly from the Far North and want to ensure genuine transparency and community engagement so that we can work together to enact positive change across our district. I believe now is the time for a fresh face to be a mover and a shaker within council itself, across our communities of the Far North and in the capital for better outcomes so that we all thrive.

About me

I am an excellent communicator and a natural people person. My knowledge and navigation of local government has been extended across the multiple local and national roles that I've held representing the Far North already. I've also been fortunate to work with mayors across NZ to broaden my experience and connections which, along with my work in senior management in education has strengthened my knowledge base to be the new mayor the Far North needs.

My priorities
  1. Be a champion of the Far North to get the funding we deserve from the government to thrive.
  2. Listen, engage and take action on the behalf of communities to achieve their aspirations.
  3. Work to the strengths of all elected members to be an effective team who unites our district.
