Mayor of Hamilton

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Hamilton City Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

No matter what they say, previous councils have not delivered on what all people require. They have overspent, under-delivered and kept increasing rates at an alarming pace. This needs positive change. I believe that increasing efficiency and effectiveness in every aspect of Hamilton and the council is of utmost importance, leading to improvement of your quality of life, our impact on the environment and having more money left in your pocket.

About me

As a relatively young person (20 years old), I would bring an entirely new skillset, views, energy, insight, and an image to a council that would focus on a Hamilton that current and future generations would be proud to live in, as well as identifying all the implications that it could have on the future of Hamilton environmentally, socially, physically, and economically.

My priorities
  1. Increase efficiency Hamilton-wide, leading to lower costs both monetarily and environmentally.
  2. More intelligently manage traffic lights and minimise unnecessary speed bumps to keep you moving.
  3. Protect the control and ownership of our assets and infrastructure by saying no to Three Waters.
