Hamilton City Council

West General Ward
The Hamilton City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). Six councillors will be elected from the West ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I want Hamilton to be the best city to work, live, play and raise a family in. I am worried we are borrowing too much and that ratepayers are struggling to pay their rates bill. I opposed Three Water reforms. I believe Three Waters can't go ahead without a mandate – through a referendum – from the whole community. I bring over 30 years of business experience to this role and a passionate community spirit.

About me

In addition to being the founder of Kiwi International Airlines, I have 26 years of business experience. I have over 16 years of Governance experience including being a Resource Management Act Commissioner. I completed the General Management programme at the University of Cambridge in 2018. I have a passion for economic development and how local government plays a critical role in its success. I'm a businessman with a strong sense of community.

My priorities
  1. Attract companies that fit our growth strategy in the tech, logistics, manufacturing and agri-tech industries.
  2. Deploy the $50 Million Municipal Endowment fund as economic enabler through public/private projects.
  3. Stop the current Three Waters reform. I believe Three Waters can't go ahead without a referendum.
