Hamilton City Council

West General Ward
The Hamilton City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 14 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). Six councillors will be elected from the West ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Hamilton City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I want to bring authenticity onto council by moving on from the old boys' network. My priorities for the city are family, patriotism and inclusivity.

About me

I am an ardent supporter of Family First NZ. As a member of The Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand, although I admire former co-leader James Shaw, I lie further onto his right, politically. I am a conservative, holding the view that environmentalism is essentially a conservative movement.

My priorities
  1. Support the Waikato Regional Theatre construction in Victoria Street South.
  2. Retain the current CBD site for the Hamilton City Council headquarters.
  3. Make Hamilton Kirikiriroa the most utilitarian city in Aotearoa New Zealand.
