Hawke's Bay Regional Council

Ahuriri/Napier General Constituency
The Hawke's Bay Regional Council makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of 11 councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). Three councillors will be elected from the Ahuriri/Napier constituency. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Prioritise council's accountability to the ratepayer for every dollar spent.

    Protect investments such as the port assets for future generations, this is a fundamental obligation of council.

    Ensure every resident of the region is entitled to impartial and equal representation no matter their age, gender or ethnicity.

  • Support the best way to have public engagement, more face to face meetings, full and up to date website that the public can contribute to.

    Support all ethnic communities, help them integrate as best as possible with housing, work, schools etc. Allow them to keep their beliefs.

    As a first time councillor I will have more details on staff morale, pay and internal operations if elected for term 2022-2025.

  • Effective consultation on key decisions, plain English communications, more user friendly processes for engagement and feedback.

    Māori seats now in place, mana whenua as decision making partners in key planning decisions for our environment.

    People and capability strategy to attract and retain skilled staff in science, engineering and policy/planning work.
