Hawke's Bay Regional Council

Heretaunga/Hastings General Constituency
The Hawke's Bay Regional Council makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of 11 councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). Three councillors will be elected from the Heretaunga/Hastings constituency. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

Regional councillors can make a difference to the environment and the economy of Hawke's Bay. We all love living here, but we can do better in both.

About me

I have lived in The Bay most of my life. I have been immersed in the community through school boards and for ten years as a rowing coach. For the past 12 years, I have been CEO of Mitre 10 Sports Park. It was a paddock when we started and this year will attract 500,000 people. Our team got things done, and I intend to do the same as a regional councillor.

My priorities
  1. Water, water and water. Sensible storage of water is a win for the environment and our economy.
  2. Community partnerships. Tree planting volunteers are showing the way. We can expand this.
  3. My two main priorities are above. There are multiple third priorities, cycle paths, parks...
