Councils are currently also responsible for managing waste water, storm water and drinking water infrastructure – the ‘Three Waters’. But that may be about to change, with central government seeking to shift the delivery of Three Waters services to four new larger entities, which could borrow enough to upgrade the country’s water infrastructure.

Advocate for a higher level of investment to increase Watercare's at-capacity network in our growth suburbs like Torbay and Long Bay.
Increase the service level in our street and town centre cleaning contracts.
Establish purpose-built dog parks and exercise areas.
Insist Watercare reinstate yearly household inspections of stormwater and wastewater connections to eliminate illegal connections.
Extend coverage of dog poop dispensers with disposable bags and bins available to ensure our beaches and parks are free of dog excrement.
Add more local schools to our school-to-farm recycling trial that collects and composts food scraps and creates productive land to grow food.

Focus on identifying and fixing the causes of wastewater ending up at our beaches.
The government's Three Waters reform banished. Give the councils direction and funding and control of local assets and not central government.
