Howick Local Board

The Howick Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of nine members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. Three members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Stop the Three Waters reform because our assets and decision making will be taken out of our hands.

    Support a (safe and controlled) pest eradication program to protect our flora and fauna.

    Encourage home owners to start compost bins and grow their own vegetables.

  • Preserve current biodiversity by supporting the council to plant native trees and bushes in walkways when appropriate.

    Prioritise reducing waste management and new recycling techniques, including glass bottle collections and waste reduction education.

    Reduce pests by enforcing stricter support around stray animals and organising community pet refugees for unwanted "present" animals.
