Howick Local Board

Pakuranga Subdivision
The Howick Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of nine members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. Three members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Allowing for more multiunit housing within 3km of transport hubs, eg apartments near Pakuranga town centre and Panmure train station.

    Tie infrastructure spending to housing density to ensure our roads and wastewater systems can manage population increase.

    Allow for freshly zoned land to sold to first home buyers at a subsidised rate to encourage strong suburban growth of family-style homes.

  • Demand the Auckland Unitary Plan be reviewed because it hasn't kept up with the current housing intensification and infrastructure.

    Request that all new builds in Pakuranga area be reduced by 50% until we can establish a sustainable growth plan.

  • Lobby to improve council housing standards in the area. Council housing is a federal issue then local board.
