Why I'm standing
The upcoming term for Hurunui District Council will prove be very challenging. With the forthcoming imposition of central government reforms to Three Waters, Resource Management Act and indeed the future role of local government itself, our ability to have influence over issues that directly effect us is becoming increasingly under threat. This will be a time for local empathy, local knowledge and stable, rational decision making. I offer a business perspective, with strong community focus to the task.
About me
As a current councillor, I have now had the privilege of the extensive training, experiences and knowledge that come with three years at the council table. I am familiar with our current projects, strategies and policies and well aware of our challenges for the future. In repaying the community's trust in me over the past three years, I believe I am well equiped to contribute as an effective councillor over this next term.
My priorities
- Ensure annual investment maintains the quality of the district assets and service levels required.
- Explore alternative revenue streams to be able to achieve more without further burdening ratepayers.
- Work with locals to strengthen, enhance, beautify and financially secure our urban centres.
