Mayor of Invercargill

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Invercargill City Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

As a late comer, I saw a gap and thought that if I didn't offer my servant-hood I would have regrets. Invercargill and Bluff need a mayor who leads in overcoming the overwhelm. I'm pretty sure I can do that. If you're worried that your representatives might run with agendas which are foreign to you, then you are being seriously let down. True representation is achieved via mutual trust.

About me

As your mayor, I would deal with the oppression that 'all us moderates' are experiencing. I am non partisan politically – a little leader of many little leaders. We have long been suffering from non/weak representation. I would represent everybody, from the cradle to the grave regardless of status and I would harmonise the talented and diligent councillors you are (hopefully) choosing. Trust is paramount, so you can get on with life.

My priorities
  1. Prudent council behaviour. Valuing everybody. Listening. Decisive, not divisive. Dogma free.
  2. No to Three Waters. No to co-governance. No to separatism. Healthy peaceful protest. Do it our way.
  3. Cut wasteful practices. Everything good comes to our community when our families are strong. Basics.
