Kaiapoi-Tuahiwi Community Board

The Kaiapoi-Tuahiwi Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Waimakariri District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of five members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Climate change poses a huge challenge for communities as more frequent extreme weather events require us to rethink how we live and where. Local authorities are at the forefront of efforts to respond, with responsibilities for environmental planning and regulation, as well as civil defence. Many councils have plans to reduce emissions in their area and are working to help their communities adapt to a warming world.

    To commit to doing more research on actual changes in our coastal environment to better plan for subdivision developments and building rules.

    To commit to do all I can to ensure that civil defence and earthquake strengthening rules are fit for purpose (I hope lessons have been learnt).
