Wairoa General Ward
The Kaipara District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of nine councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Three councillors will be elected from the Wairoa ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper.   • Advocate for arts and culture funding to encourage and foster our creative sector and its economic benefit to our district.

    Focus on footpaths, access and accessibility for everyone. All of our residents should be able to participate in all parts of our community.

    Advocate for a balance of economic benefit from tourism activities with the protection of taonga such as reserves and forests.

  • Reduce costs and improve timeliness of council services to business.

    Take a more collaborative approach when dealing with statutory and enforcement functions.

    Provide improved infrastructure to support business and tourism.

  • Housing growth is needed. The jobs are here but there is nowhere for the employees to live. Simple answer is to promote residential growth.

    Residential growth must be a priority and the rest will follow.

    The farming community of the Northern Wairoa needs Dargaville and Dargaville businesses need the Northern Wairoa rural sector.

  • Promote continued revitalisation of Dargaville business district and attract new business setups.

    Utilise my knowledge and experience within hospitality, hotels and tourism to support and promote greater tourism growth and employment.

    Support local producers and craftspeople through increased farmer's market opportunities.

  • Work with stakeholders to provide visionary roads for the future rather spending money doing patch work on them in the short term.

    Local business should be encouraged by council business and tourism friendly policies and incentives.

    Local industries should be encouraged to provide employment to young people so they are encouraged to live in Kaipara.
