Napier City Council

Ahuriri Ward
The Napier City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). Two councillors will be elected from the Ahuriri ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Napier City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I often see political organisations put energy (and your money) into treating symptoms instead of dealing with the underlying causes, and while I understand that everything is a balancing act, I advocate for public money spent on things that actually get to the heart of issues. I'm passionate about supporting our people, especially those who need a hand up, and ensuring our built assets and infrastructure are properly looked after.

About me

I've loved the variety and complexity of work in my first term as a councillor and believe I'm only getting started. I have a background in engineering management, have travelled the world and am proud to call Napier my home. I'm passionate about representing the community, providing a voice for people and creating meaningful change for our city. I listen carefully, work hard and stand up for what's right.

My priorities
  1. Properly fund asset and building maintenance – we need to look after what we've already got.
  2. Plan for the future while addressing the needs of today – we all know the big issues on our horizon.
  3. Advocate for local democracy – work with government so local government's future meets your needs.
