Papakura Local Board

The Papakura Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of six members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     We would like to see the inclusion of homelessness being included in the Tenancy Tribunal Act.

  • Carry out rezoning to allow higher density developments with enough green spaces to flourish.

    Empower and encourage community housing including co-housing and papakāinga.

    Support improvements to the Healthy Homes Standards, to introduce a proper Housing Warrant of Fitness.

  • Ensure developers build passive houses in Papakura that aid the health and well-being of those living in them, and reduce energy consumption.

    Explore working with partners to build council housing for families who need emergency housing or transitional housing support in Papakura.

    Ensure the healthy homes standards are being adhered to by large landlords as several homes in Papakura are in breach of the standards.
