Papakura Local Board

The Papakura Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of six members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Improving the weather protection and seating capacity at bus and train stops to better serve the less-abled and elderly.

    Push for better parking facilities for the train station.

    Encourage greater use of hubs along the cycleways for community events to encourage discovery and use.

  • Expand the route of AT Local – Auckland Transport initiative in Papakura to make it accessible for those who live outside the current zone.

    Lobby Auckland Transport to install roundabouts, judder bars and walk-bike paths in those areas in Papakura where road-safety is paramount.

    Advocate for affordable and connected public transport to get Papakura people regularly and confidently using the trains and buses.

  • Work with Auckland Transport for more commuter parking at the Papakura Train Station to increase accessibility to public transport services from Papakura.

    Commit to active maintenance of footpath surfaces around the town to ensure safety for all especially children walking to and from school.

  • Bus routes should have consultation and process for the people to be included in the decision making. Bus fares should be free transport.
