Papakura Local Board

The Papakura Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of six members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • I would like to see all businesses receive helicopter grants to maintain business operations to stimulate the economy.

    I'd like to see the first responders, ie ambulance and the fire brigade government funded. Consultation and process people before policy.

    We definitely need to recover vocational learning reintroduced back into schools and into our community. Quality control measures we need.

  • Action the narrative for Papakura: whānau – family-friendly, culturally rich, youthful, new metro zone, to grow business and employment.

    Welcome tenants to the metro zone whose business contributes to the narrative for Papakura to make this city safe, welcoming, and vibrant.

    Build apartments/shops/green spaces in the metro zone so people can live, shop, meet and work locally and easily access public transport.

  • Work to support new business developments and ventures to improve access to employment for residents to grow and work in the Papakura community.

    Establish more community led events in the town centres to increase engagement with local businesses and enliven the town centre.

    Work with employers, training providers and schools to ensure our youth are workforce ready, to establish the future generation of Papakura.

  • Support and fund initiatives through local training centres, marae, and other community hubs, to provide upskilling workshops opportunities.

    Work with property owners to remove barriers to the development of new businesses in the town centre.

    Increase local events (such as night markets) in the main streets to boost patronage to surrounding businesses.
