Porirua City Council

Pāuatahanui General Ward
The Porirua City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 10 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). Four councillors will be elected from the Pāuatahanui ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Porirua City Council election.

Why I'm standing

My family has lived in Porirua since we came to NZ in 1999 and have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in bringing Laughalots Playland to the CBD to support all young families and give our kids a great time. We are invested in Porirua, and we care for the future. I employ all local staff and help them to improve their skills so that they can, in turn improve their family's lives.

About me

With more than 40 years working to help governments, large corporations and small businesses across the world to adapt to change and improve their communications I bring a unique set of skills to council to guide them through what will be a very difficult term. This is a very different election. Those of us who you elect will have to deal with multiple crises, none of our making. My skills and experience will help.

My priorities
  1. Improve how council reacts to rapid changes in society.
  2. Improve how council communicates, talks and listens to all ratepayers, not just vocal minorities.
  3. Introduce a new support service for owners of English Mastiffs.
