Porirua City Council

Pāuatahanui General Ward
The Porirua City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 10 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). Four councillors will be elected from the Pāuatahanui ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Porirua City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I want to ensure that the good groundwork of the previous council in infrastructure investment, harbour planting, and a sector-leading district plan is capitalised on. Change is on the horizon with likely water, resource management and wider local government reform and we need councillors who will fight in our city's corner, so we don't lose out. My background and experience puts me in a good position to be able to contribute.

About me

My background is in managing infrastructure, and I have been part of the council team that has made things happen over the last six years. I believe that my contributions, particularly in the Three Waters and roading space will result in better outcomes as the increased spending takes effect. I have lived in Porirua my whole life and want to see it continue to be a vibrant, diverse and growing city.

My priorities
  1. Ensure significantly increased money allocated for Three Waters infrastructure projects is spent well.
  2. Support streamside planting programme to improve harbour health.
  3. Encourage smart action on climate change with a primary focus on adaption.
