Mayor of Rotorua

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Rotorua District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

Offer citizens feeling powerless against council's many bad decisions to take back control by electing RDRR candidates who are committed to 'deep change' in council, to fix council and fix Rotorua.

About me

My key point of difference with other mayoral candidates is that I have the qualifications, expertise and experience to reform the governance function of council, its priorities and its services.

My priorities
  1. Restore democratic and effective decision making to elected members with functional subcommittees.
  2. Review the legality of the Te Arawa Partnership Agreement and review all policy advisory services.
  3. Revise council priorities to minimize rates rises, retire debt and boost business, jobs and wellbeing.
