Ruapehu District Council

Ruapehu General Ward

The Ruapehu District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of nine councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Six councillors will be elected from the Ruapehu General ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Ruapehu District Council election.

Putting Our Communities First

Why I'm standing

To work towards a more holistic and positive approach to governance. Bringing together our community boards, council, iwi and community in a way that engages and delivers for all our communities.

My priorities
  1. Ensure we as a council deliver on our core services to our community.
  2. Ensure we work effectively with our enlarged community boards and they are properly supported.
  3. To work with government to ensure we are properly funded and able to support our communities.
About me

I have extensive experience of governance in large metropolitan councils. Here in Ruapehu I have been a Community Board member in National Park and Waimarino Waiouru for six years and chair of my local community group Raetihi Promotions. This has given me an understanding of locals issues and the needs of our communities. This has also given me the experience of working with various groups and to achieve positive outcomes for our communities.
