Malvern Ward
The Selwyn District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 10 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Two councillors will be elected from the Malvern ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Establish a user friendly process for allocating funds to rural communities that support local arts, cultural and sporting endeavours.

  • Plan public amenities for Malvern ward such as pools, and reinstate community hall management into their own communities.

    Encourage community events and build togetherness.

    Make more use of the Darfield Recreation Centre and the grounds to cater for a new swimming pool.

  • Make new amenities accessible for all, before removing old commodities or closing, construct alternatives which are fit for purpose.

    Keep council services cost effective and affordable, incentivise new social clubs and sport events to reduce down time to facilities.
