The Selwyn District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 10 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Three councillors will be elected from the Rolleston ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Support any discussions with social housing providers considering Selwyn locations.

    Investigate incentives for promotion of brownfield site development.

  • Advocate for infill housing and mixed-use zoning in our main townships, creating walkable communities, and more tree-lined streetscapes.

    Give food security more priority by protecting versatile soils from development and establishing community gardens on the peri-urban fringe.

    Support renting households by funding a locally-based advocate to work with landlords, Tenancy Services, Community Energy Action, and more.
