Rolleston Ward
The Selwyn District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 10 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Three councillors will be elected from the Rolleston ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Develop additional reserves and parks across Selwyn for recreational purposes. Ensure roading and footpaths to these areas are addressed.

    Continue to support the community with the construction of the town centre redevelopment in Rolleston.

    Provide facilities for new businesses and services.

  • Facilitate a workplace pipeline between local business, industry, high schools, training providers, and WINZ for all ages and stages.

    Create more vibrant high streets by decreasing speed limits, enabling walking and cycling, and trialling car-free evenings and weekends.

    Promote rural tourism by furthering the Arthurs Pass to Te Waihora cycle trail, connecting with the Little River Rail Trail and Kiwirail.

  • Continue to advocate for a cycleway network from Arthurs Pass through the district for tourism and economic benefit for the towns.
