The Thames-Coromandel District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of nine councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Three councillors will be elected from the Mercury Bay ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Formulate a plan to stream-line current internal processes to ensure the limiting of holds ups for developers, as well as construction.

    Research and advocate for sustainable housing solutions, sourcing nature-based products that are affordable and eco-friendly.

    Review and gain a better personal understanding of the councils spatial planning.

  • Develop more efficient and cost effective consenting processes for all types of construction

    Encourage more long term rentals and affordable homes for workers

    Support groups to provide low cost housing for disadvantaged

  • Get pensioner housing proposals started.

    Identify land for sheltered housing.
