Why I'm standing
I have always felt called to serve my community and try to help and advocate for those without a voice in our democratic decision making – children, disconnected people, and our natural environment and ecology. I already serve through my community work with Sustain and Enable and Scouting NZ and I believe I have the skills and experience needed to help make our local democracy engage more people and run more efficiently and effectively.
About me
I believe in honesty, transparency and helping others. I have five years' experience as a project manager at Auckland Council and seven years running my own community organisation and business. Earlier life: seven years finance and corporate career. I have shown tenacity and commitment in the face of challenges including overcoming disability and depression. In this role it's important to listen and understand, before speaking, and collaborate rather than competing with other members and stakeholders.
My priorities
- Listen to the needs of diverse local residents. Balance these against political and budget realities.
- Living Upper Harbour priorities: healthy active communities, growing green spaces.
- Greater transport choices, resilient sustainable economy.
