Waikouaiti Coast Community Board

The Waikouaiti Coast Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Dunedin City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of six members. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper.   • Provide healthy home grants/interest free loans to properties that have poor insulation, ventilation or heating. Partner with central government.

    Advocate for 2GP to be rethought to allow for rezoning which will support targeted urban and commercial growth.

    Protect areas of significant beauty and community interest.

  • Promote Waikouaiti as a potential site for expansion of residential housing.

    Continue to lobby for an upgrade of the Main Street in Waikouaiti.

  • Consider how to improve the housing supply in this area, particularly considering affordable rental accommodation and properties to buy.

    Develop strategies in conjunction with Dunedin City Council and Otago Regional Council for helping local communities at risk from flooding and sea-level rise.

    Consider how to develop a plan for managing housing intensity in local communities: how many houses (and people) is right for each location.
