Waimāero Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board

The Waimāero Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Christchurch City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of nine members: six members elected by voters, including two members from your area, and three councillors from the Christchurch City council. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Climate change poses a huge challenge for communities as more frequent extreme weather events require us to rethink how we live and where. Local authorities are at the forefront of efforts to respond, with responsibilities for environmental planning and regulation, as well as civil defence. Many councils have plans to reduce emissions in their area and are working to help their communities adapt to a warming world.

    Phase out use of carcinogenic poisons (get rid of).

  • Help to reduce carbon footprint at least 10% within the next three years.

    Educate the community to understand the climate change and the possible economic and health and wellbeing impact.

    Prepare the city to adapt climate change and adverse weather patterns.

  • Support increased use of public transport.

    As a user of an electric car, promote/encourage use of electric vehicles.

    Encourage use of energy efficient methods.
