Pirongia-Kakepuku General Ward
The Waipā District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 11 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Two councillors will be elected from the Pirongia-Kakepuku General ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Continue to provide council housing for those who can't afford their own home. Work with partners to achieve this.

  • Commit to implementing Waipā's Community Spatial Plan, Ahu Ake once preferred scenario is landed.

    Support housing affordability policies in tandem/partnership with other providers.

    Support liveable and walkable urban spaces and more trees in our urban areas in line with 10% vegetative cover best practice.

  • Building more affordable homes.

    Helping people into stable, affordable homes and preventing homelessness where possible.

    Supporting renters to have safe, healthy, affordable homes with secure tenure.
