Pirongia-Kakepuku General Ward
The Waipā District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 11 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Two councillors will be elected from the Pirongia-Kakepuku General ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Provide good public facilities. Ensure our parks, pools, libraries and museums up to the highest standard possible.

    Encourage sporting events to use Waipā's facilities which we are all very proud of. Plenty of outside dollars spent by outside participants.

    Support liquor license bans for certain events where the need for alcohol isn't necessary. Regular reporting necessary for licences granted.

  • Protect lands and lakes for outdoor recreation and enabling equitable access for all.

    Ensure the strength and funding of community arts organisations.

  • Ensure our open spaces are well maintained and meet our communities' needs.

    Support funding for community events and district promotions.

    Ensure our sports fields are upgraded so they can cope with additional use in wet weather.
