Waipā District Council

Te Awamutu-Kihikihi General Ward
The Waipā District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 11 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Three councillors will be elected from the Te Awamutu-Kihikihi ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Further look at reducing pests to continue the great work protecting our local reserves and wildlife.

  • Stop adding fluoride to our water. It is a poison. Encourage new built homes to have water tanks.

    Encourage people to be proud of their town and recycle, re-use and tidy up after themselves.

  • Promote a more circular waste collection with more reduction in volume sent to landfill and support the creation of a waste recovery centre.

    Promote current local organisations such as Urban Miners, hospice shop and all recycling programs within our community.

    Continue to support the protection and enhancement of all our local rivers and lakes with the cooperation of Waikato Regional Council.
