Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board

Central Subdivision
The Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Christchurch City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of nine members: six members elected by voters, including two members from your area, and three councillors from the Christchurch City council. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Promote educational opportunities for local communities to learn about sustainable practices such as recycling, reuse and reduction.

    Promote and support our local communities to keep our rivers clean and demonstrate the principles of Kaitiakitanga/Guardianship.

    Advocating for safe drinking water across Christchurch and Banks Peninsula.

  • Inform and encourage local property owners to add to the 'Native Green Beltway' from the hills to the sea, for the use of our native birds.

    Lobby council to stop using glyphosate products to weed spray in our local area.

    With local schools input plant a native garden area in Linwood Park and encourage the continued maintenance and enjoyment from the children.

  • Commit to seeing Christchurch increasing the city's tree cover and seeing progress with OARC.

    Continue the work of the Greening of the East project for the inner city east.

    Work with mana whenua on cleaning the city's waterways to reduce waste and other water pollutants.

  • Continue the waste and recycling education programme for Christchurch homes.

    Create Living Streets to grow biodiversity in all of our communities.

    Support local environmental groups, empowering them to improve the natural environments in our neighbourhoods.
